Arsenal centre back David Luiz has insisted that the club needs to remain confident in their ideology and follow the methods that they have adopted under Unai Emery. The Gunners’ tactics were questioned and criticised by pundits after their 1-0 away loss to Sheffield United last weekend.

Arsenal have had an optimistic start to their season, and they sit 5th in the Premier League table despite criticism. The Gunners have lost only two games this season with their most recent loss coming against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. It saw former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra call Arsenal “weak” and “babies” after the narrow defeat.

However despite that and all the criticism that Unai Emery’s tactics this season has received, David Luiz has admitted that it’s too early to pass judgements to Arsenal’s struggles this season. The Brazilian even went on to add that the club needs to be honest with what went wrong against Sheffield United and they need to adapt to it accordingly.

“We have to be honest about what went wrong, but we also have to be calm. It's only our second defeat this season. We are doing many things well. We have to keep believing in our philosophy, we have to keep believing in our team, which is the best way for us to improve. Football is about the end, not the beginning, so let's see how we finish at the end of the season in May,” said Luiz to the Sky Sports.

Unai Emery’s team made a sensational comeback against Vitoria Guimaraes after being 2-1 down since the 36th minute to go on and win the game 3-2. Arsenal’s record signing Nicolas Pepe scored a free-kick brace to take Gunners to the victory. Luiz, who signed from Chelsea for £8m this summer, admitted every game is one they have to win if they want to aim for glory.

“If you want to achieve big goals, you have to think about winning, winning, winning. It'll be tough against Crystal Palace but we want the three points. I want to win titles with Arsenal, that's why I'm here,” concluded the former Chelsea defender.
