With the January transfer window now open, everything is about to go haywire with sense flying out the windows as clubs look to reinforce their squads. There's plenty of news to shift through though and we will bring you all the latest buzz on rumours, gossip, reports and everything in between.
Erling Haaland to stay at Borussia Dortmund in January
Erling Haaland will not be leaving Borussia Dortmund in January despite several rumours that the elite European clubs in world football will look to make an offer for the Norwegian. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Haaland has not decided on his next club yet and is not likely to make a decision in January.
It is also understood that there are no pre-agreements in place with Real Madrid or Barcelona as speculated by the media and the race to sign the Norwegian international will remain an open one. The 21-year-old is likely to leave his parent club in the summer as any interested parties can trigger the alleged 75 million release clause to lure him away from Germany.

Newcastle United looking into £50 million move for Darwin Nunez
With Newcastle United looking to fight against relegation, Tuttomercatoweb has reported that the Magpies are looking into the possibility of signing Benfica forward Darwin Nunez ahead of Manchester City or Atletico Madrid in January. The 22-year-old has been in fine form so far, netting 18 goals across all competitions, including 13 in as many league games.
The report has indicated that the forward has a £100 million release clause but the St James' Park side believe that they can convince Benfica to sell Nunez for a reduced fee despite the interest from across Europe in the 22-year-old. Nunez does, however, have just over three years left on his current deal which may complicate any potential move for him.
Neto desires to leave Barcelona for Flamengo in January
Barcelona goalkeeper Neto has requested to leave the Camp Nou side in this transfer window with Flamengo showing a substantial interest in taking the Brazilian back to his homeland. The 32-year-old joined the Catalan club in the summer of 2019 to be the second-choice keeper at the Spanish club after the departure of Jasper Cillessen to Valencia.
Neto has only appeared in 19 games across all competitions in the three seasons he has spent with the Spanish giants and according to El Nacional, the 32-year-old is eager to return to his homeland and be a consistent presence in the Flamengo squad as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.
AS Roma considering a move for Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham
According to Calciomercato, Tanguy Ndombele could be on the move from Tottenham as Roma are interested in acquiring the French midfielder in this transfer window. Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon in the summer of 2019 for a record fee of €62 million (£55.45 million) plus up to €10 million (£8.97 million) in add-ons.
The French midfielder has struggled to put on consistent performances at the North London club in his two seasons at the club. Current Spurs boss Antonio Conte has not ruled out a January sale for Ndombele, who has only played nine Premier League matches for the London club so far this season.
Jose Mourinho who worked with the 25-year-old during his spell at Spurs is eager to work with him again and is hopeful of sealing a deal for the midfielder in January.
Newcastle to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid for €20 million.
According to Calciomercato, Newcastle United will look to secure their first signing of the January transfer window by recruiting Kieran Trippier away from Atletico Madrid. The deal to take the Englishman back to his homeland will be worth a reported fee of €20 million. Atletico boss Diego Simeone had admitted earlier this month that the England international may leave the club in January ahead of interest from several clubs.
The former Spurs defender was spotted waving goodbye to Atletico fans after their wins on Sunday as Newcastle submitted a formal bid to sign Tripper and it looks like the deal could be sealed for the aforementioned fee.
Fiorentina confirm that they've signed Lille's Jonathan Ikone for a reported €15 million fee
After months of speculation, Fiorentina have confirmed that they have signed former PSG starlet Jonathan Ikone from Lille for a fee that could reportedly rise up to €15 million with add-ons. The French side had already confirmed the move on the 31st of December and revealed that Ikone was already in Italy, training with Fiorentina.
The Viola have now confirmed the move although they haven't released any contract details.
"ACF Fiorentina announces that it has definitively acquired the rights to the sports performances of the Nanitamo player Jonathan Ikoné from LOSC Lille," reads the statement.
Barcelona's move for Alvaro Morata is almost 95% done
While Alvaro Morata maybe on loan at Juventus, AS has reported that Barcelona are inching closer towards signing the Spaniard with a move reportedly 95% done. The 29-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou over the last few weeks with the La Liga giants looking to sign a striker.
The Spanish forward is currently in Turin on a two-year loan spell and they do have a buy option, at the end of 2021/22 season and the 2022/23 season as well, but could return to Atletico Madrid before heading to Barcelona on loan. AS has further reported that the Camp Nou side are looking at an 18 month loan spell with an option to buy.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are unlikely to let Jesse Lingard leave for top-four rivals West Ham during the January transfer window. The Englishman enjoyed a superb loan spell at the Hammers last season as he helped the club secure qualification to Europe. The England international opted to stay at the Manchester club in the summer in search of securing a spot in the United starting 11 but it has not gone according to plan for the 29-year-old so far.
The English attacker who has less than a year remaining on his deal is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any interested parties but desires to leave Old Trafford this month. United are not willing to let that happen as it may boost West Ham's chances of securing a top four spot and will let Lingard walk for free in the summer.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirms that they are looking at a move for Erling Haaland
With Erling Haaland's future a top story from the moment the transfer window opened, reports have indicated that no move for the Norwegian will take place in January. The forward does have a release clause that activates in the summer but Borussia Dortmund are keen on keeping him at the club for the remainder of the current season.
But that hasn't stopped Barcelona president Joan Laporta from revealing that the La Liga giants are looking into the possibility of signing him as he believes that the club have recovered their status.
“We’re working to build a top team. Everything is possible if we do things well. And I’m sure we will. Top players are open to join Barça. We’re definitely recovering our status," Laporta said, reported Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham and West Ham to lock horns for Adama Traore with Wolves open to offers
According to the Daily Telegraph, Wolves are open to letting Adama Traore leave although the club are only considering offers above £20 million for the Spaniard. The report has indicated that Bruno Lage wants to sign at least three players in January but owners Fosun are reluctant to splurge in January.
It has thus forced the club's hand with them looking to sell players in order to bring in new blood and the Telegraph has reported that both West Ham and Tottenham are still in the race for the forward. Spurs were looking at a summer 2021 move but had two bids rejected and still remain interested while West Ham are looking to reinforce their squad.
Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe to join Napoli on loan
According to the Birmingham Mail, Manchester United are working on ending his loan spell at Aston Villa after boss Steven Gerrard was unable to give him assurances over his playing time for the rest of the season. The English defender has made 11 appearances across all competitions so far for the English side.
Talks between United and Napoli are progressing well with the deal likely to be a loan until the end of the season with the Italian side not having the option to make the move permanent. Tuanzebe who was expected to remain at Villa until the end of the current campaign will now change course and head for Italy to finish off the campaign.
Aston Villa look to make move for Denis Zakaria
According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria as they aim to reinforce their midfield. The 25-year-old who is into the last six months of his contract has been linked with several European clubs such as Liverpool, Leicester City, Arsenal and Everton.
Villa are hopeful that their willingness to pull the trigger on the deal will be enough to beat their Premier League rivals for Zakaria following the German club's announcement that he has decided to not extend his stay at the club. The Swiss international is understood to be keen on a move to the Premier League for his future.
Newcastle United told that Sven Botman is not for sale by Lille
With the Magpies targetting reinforcements in January, the club have been looking at bringing in young and talented players with Sven Botman at the top of their shortlist. The Dutch under-21 defender is a highly rated prospect and Newcastle United were looking at making him part of their marquee moves but things are not going according to plan.
The Telegraph has reported that Lille have told the St James' Park side that the defender is not for sale at any price in this window despite a fee of £30 million thrown about in discussions. The report has further revealed that the Magpies are keeping a close eye on proceedings with Botman reportedly keen on signing for the Premier League side.
Venezia sign Bayern Munich's Michaël Cuisance for a reported fee of €4.5 million
Serie A side Venezia have confirmed that they have signed Bayern Munich midfielder Michaël Cuisance on a permanent transfer for a reported fee of around €4.5 million plus add-ons with the young Frenchman ending a tough spell in Bavaria.
The 22-year-old signed for Bayern Munich in 2019 from Borussia Monchengladbach but struggled to make his mark with the German giants, making just 13 appearances for Julian Nagelsmann's side along the way. Venezia's statement further revealed that the Cuisance has signed a contract until the 2024/25 season.
"Venezia FC is pleased to announce the acquisition of French midfielder Michaël Cuisance, 22, from FC Bayern München. Cuisance has signed personal terms through the 2024/25 season," reads the statement.
AC Milan considering move for out of contract Torino forward Andrea Belotti
According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are looking into a potential move for Andrea Belotti with the 28-year-old out of contract at the end of the 2021/22 season. The Torino captain has yet to sign a contract extension with the Turin side and has six months left on his current deal, with him free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any club.
The 28-year-old has also been linked with a move to MLS side Toronto FC and Newcastle United as well alongside a few other Serie A clubs although Calciomercato has reported that AC Milan are the front-runners at the moment with Stefano Pioli's side keen on adding a new forward.
