Liverpool are competing with Barcelona for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, valued at £21m, as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future remains uncertain amid Real Madrid interest. Barcelona’s pursuit follows Pep Guardiola recommendation, while Liverpool maintains direct contact with Kimmich entourage. The versatile German, out of contract this season, is considering leaving Bayern after eight Bundesliga titles.

In the ongoing transfer battle, Liverpool are keen to secure Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain. With Real Madrid reportedly interested in Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool are proactively targeting Kimmich, a versatile player who can operate as a right-back or midfielder. The 29-year-old German international, out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season, is valued at £21 million for a January move, though Liverpool could wait until summer 2025 to sign him for free.

Barcelona, however, have emerged as serious competitors for Kimmich’s signature. Pep Guardiola, who coached Kimmich at Bayern, has recommended him to the Catalan club, sparking their interest. Current Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, having worked with Kimmich at Bayern and with the German national team, is well aware of his capabilities. Despite Bayern's efforts to retain Kimmich, he is reportedly considering a "change of scenery."

Liverpool are also pursuing other targets, including Lyon’s Rayan Cherki for £18.6 million and Real Madrid's Brahim Diaz. Meanwhile, Liverpool trail Aston Villa in the race for Sevilla defender Loic Bade, highlighting their aggressive transfer strategies amid uncertainties surrounding key players.
