Puneri Paltan coach Ashan Kumar has stated that he has full faith in Monu and the player returned the favour by achieving a Super Raid in the match against Dabang Delhi K.C which turned the encounter in their favour. With the win, Puneri Paltan sit at the top of the table in Zone A.

In the first encounter of the day, yesterday, Puneri Paltan managed to defeat Dabang Delhi 31-27 and went to the top of the Zone A table. It was the match between two teams that have shown their defensive strength throughout the season and it was the Pune side that ran out winners at full-time. When the game was in the balance, Monu managed to get a Super Raid in to not only give his side the lead, but according to Kumar, also swung the momentum of the game in Pune's favour.

“That Super Raid completely changed the momentum of the game in our favour and we had full faith that Monu will play well today”, Puneri Paltan coach Ashan Kumar said.

With this win, Pune consolidated their position as the numero uno team of the Zone A with a total of 37 points with U Mumba not far behind with 29 points. The coach also stated that they have learnt from their previous mistakes and credited the team for securing a win without the services of lead raider Nitin Tomar.

“We did a lot of analysis with the team after our earlier losses. We try not to be dependent on any one player. We want to have a balance. Today we tried to use that balance to our advantage and play out of our skins. It was very important to win today and I’m glad the players in each of the seven positions played well today” he added.

“U Mumba have played us twice this season and we have tied one game with them while winning the other. So we want to continue this record against them. We have seen Siddharth Desai’s game and we know his strengths, so we will strategize on how to neutralise him in the upcoming matches."

Girish Kumar Maruth praised on raider Deepak Dahiya and commended him saying that he made a good use of the opportunity provided to him.

“Absolutely. He made good use of the opportunity and put in a good performance. We hope he continues performing well for us like he did today”, Girish Maruti Ernak said.

Puneri Paltan’s opposition Dabang Delhi lost their third encounter this season and the coach put the onus on their defence for a poor start.

“The defence made the first error and that is where we lost the advantage. The three points we lost all started from there. We got some good chances even after that but we weren’t able to capitalise”, coach Krishan Kumar Hooda said.

Dabang Delhi now sits on the fourth position on the points table in Zone A with 16 points. The team’s coach said that one more strong raider would have helped them improve their game by leaps and bounds and grab those five crucial points.

“Neither side was particularly impressive in the raiding department. Even our opponents didn’t score too many raid points. The game depended a lot on the defence and I think we were found wanting in that department today. More than having an additional raider on the mat, I think if our defence was tighter we could have taken control of this match," the coach explained.
