PKL 2019 | Needed a victory and the raiders delivered : Nitesh Kumar
UP Yoddha skipper Nitesh Kumar has said that the raiders delivered for the team when they wanted to register a win in their last match against Bengaluru Bulls on Monday. Monu Goyat has mentioned that the idea on the mat was not to concede a tackle point easily against the Bulls’ defence.
Prior to the game against Bengaluru, the UP side had only one win from six games and were in search of their second. It hasn’t been a great season for Nitesh Kumar and co. and a win against the Bulls would have given them the much-needed momentum going ahead in the tournament. Both the raiding and defence of the Yoddha played well in the game and that led to a win against the defending champions for them. Skipper Nitesh spoke during the press conference about their last game’s performance.
“We needed a victory in this match and the raiders delivered. They were also well supported by the defenders, which was good to see,” Nitesh was quoted as saying by the PKL website.
Star raider of the UP team, Monu Goyat finally came up with a good show in the game as he collected eight points in total and that included a couple of tackle points as well. Goyat expressed his delight after the win in which he was able to play a crucial role in both the units.
“It’s a good feeling to perform so well. Both teams were playing a little slow throughout the game. Bengaluru Bulls have a good defence so we had to make sure that we don’t concede a tackle point easily since that would allow them to get more momentum on their side,” the raider signed off.
