Glenn Maxwell aiming for Test spot against India
Glenn Maxwell has expressed his disappointment at being ignored by the Australian selectors for the third Test against South Africa where three batsmen made their debuts. He is now keen to use the ODI series against New Zealand to book a place for himself in the Test series against India next year.
After losing the first two Tests against South Africa in the recently concluded series, Australia made a lot of changes to their squad for the third Test. However, despite bringing in so many new faces, the Australian selectors have continued to ignore Glenn Maxwell.

"But the way the selections have gone I'm probably looking at the Indian series now. I think I've probably missed the boat for the home summer," Maxwell told reporters on Thursday, reported Reuters.
The swashbuckling batsman expressed his disappointment at getting the chance below the wicket-keeper Mathew Wade.
He said, “I think probably batting below the wicketkeeper is also a bit painful as well. I think the wicketkeeper should be batting at seven unless you’re trying to squeeze an extra bowler into your line-up."
The 28-year-old has made only three Test appearances so far for the Baggy Greens – the last of which came almost two years back against Pakistan in 2014. He was also recently dropped from the ODI squad in Sri Lanka after struggling with his form. However, Maxwell is determined to use the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, which is set to start from December 4, to show how he has changed his technique and mentality, and book a place for himself for Australia’s tour of India, which will take place in February next year.
"I changed a few things slightly technically and slightly mentally as well, more so the way I look at the game and the way I start my innings.
"I think that's going to be a big change heading into this one-day series about starting my innings and making sure I get into the game, and not sort of throw it away too early.
"Whether that comes from white ball cricket or any sort of cricket I'm playing whether they come down and watch me at Fitzroy-Doncaster and see how I'm going
"I'm going to be trying to make as many runs and taking as many wickets and show them the improvements I have made," Maxwell added.
