Mohammad Kaif Explains the Real Reason Behind Virat Kohlis Test Exit
Mohammad Kaif is among the many stars who were shocked with Kohli's Test retirement. He was one of the finest Test batsmen for the Indian team in this generation. Still, he walked away from his favourite format when the team needed him the most.

Virat Kohli, the player who dominated all three formats of the game, is now left playing just one. Even though his retirement in the T20Is came at the right time when he won the T20 World Cup, his Test retirement was unexpected. Right before the series against England, he announced his Test retirement via Instagram.
And his retirement in Tests came just a week after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement. Both of the legends, who were having the most experience for the Indian team in this format, walked away. Recently, Mohammad Kaif talked about the real reason why Kohli retired from the game.
In an interview, he said, “Test cricket was Virat Kohli’s favorite format, and he wanted to continue playing it. Virat Kohli left Test cricket because he felt that he was not welcomed properly and that people did not want to see him in the team. He felt that he was no longer needed in the Test side. The circumstances became such that he had to leave Test cricket, and no one is talking about this.”
Our Take
The Indian team had a bad patch after the Test series against Bangladesh. And following a downfall in his performances and repeated questions, Kohli decided that it's better to walk away from his favourite format and make way for the new generation. However, this decision didn't turn out to be good for the Indian team in the Test format, as they are still looking for experience in the top order, which was bought by Kohli.
