Ashwin and Vijay to not play Ranji Trophy quarter-final match against Karnataka
Tamil Nadu off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and opener Murali Vijay will not be playing in the much-awaited Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Karnataka, to be played at Visakhapatnam on December 23. Former Karnataka skipper Robin Uthappa has also been excluded from his team due to his lack of form.
Although the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) named both Ashwin and Vijay in the squad initially for the high-voltage Cauvery derby, both players cited injury concerns for their unavailability. Vijay had suffered a shoulder injury in the fifth Test against England, but Ashwin played the match without any obvious discomfort.
