Ravindra Jadeja: Everyone says we win easily in India, so we want to change that thinking
After taking a 3-wicket haul against the WICB President’s XI in the warm-up match, Ravindra Jadeja said that the team wants to win the Test series to change the perception of fans. Jadeja also praised the performance of R Ashwin and Amit Mishra after the spin unit picked up 8 wickets in the match.
India had defeated Sri Lanka 2-1 away and South Africa 3-0 at home last year, but left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja believes that the victories at home will count for nothing unless the team starts winning overseas.
"Nowadays, all people care about is how much you have won overseas in Tests and ODIs. So our focus is on that and we want to win here in the West Indies," Jadeja, who made a case for his selection with figures of 3/16, said at post-match press conference, reported PTI.

"The way I bowled today felt like I am building towards it and getting back to my full fitness. The wicket was turning slow but there was good bounce available for us. So I was trying to bowl as per my line and length," he added.

"I think we are gelling well as a spin trio," said Jadeja, of his partnership with Ashwin and Mishra.
I think we will test the West Indies' batsmen in spinning conditions. I don't know what the combination of the team will be, but I am certainly looking forward to bowling with them as a spin unit."

"All of us have different styles and different bowling speeds. I am a left-arm spinner, Ashwin has off-breaks and Mishra has his leg spin. So that's a very good thing. Our variations are quite potent and it is not easy for the batsmen to judge three different spinners at the same time and play in three different ways.

The left-arm spinner added that the presence of legendary spinner Anil Kumble in the dressing room is proving to be a big help for them.
"It is very important that he is with us. He has been a legend for Indian cricket and he has done well in both formats. So all we want to do is talk to him about his experience and learn from him," Jadeja said, before signing off.
