PCB demands monetary compensation from BCCI
PCB official Najam Sethi has revealed that they have asked for damages from the BCCI and ICC following the cancellation of the Indo-Pak bilateral series. India had inked an MoU on multiple bilateral series with their neighbor but refused to play after ties between the two nations hit new lows.
PCB Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi yesterday said, “We have mentioned it clearly to BCCI and ICC in recent meeting that either India should play cricket with Pakistan or compensate us for damages,” after a meeting of the PCB Governing Board, reported PTI.
He added, “We have also demanded compensation from ICC as PCB is suffering financially because of non-fulfillment of BCCI’s commitment to play cricket series with Pakistan.”
Cricketing ties between the two rivals have taken a hot after the recent rise in political tensions between the countries. After the Uri attack, the BCCI have also requested the ICC to put both the countries in separate group in world events.
The teams have not played against each other in a bi-lateral series since December 2012 and have met only during multi-national tournaments with India recently cancelling a Women’s cricket series against Pakistan. But, both the teams will again play in the Women’s Asia cup starting from November 25.
