Sanju Samson’s brilliant century and Chris Morris’ nine-ball 38 took Delhi Daredevils to 205 paving the way for 97-run win over Rising Pune Supergiant in the ninth match of the IPL. A Steve Smith-less Pune were able to manage just 108, succumbing to their second straight defeat of the season.

Here are the player ratings for the game:

Delhi Daredevils

Aditya Tare - (5/10)

The wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed for a golden duck when he was caught behind by MS Dhoni off a Deepak Chahar delivery. Tare will have to find a quick solution to his starting problems if he wants to hold on to his spot in the Delhi side.

Sam Billings - (6/10)

The Australian managed to get off to a decent start scoring 24 off just 17 balls, which included 4 boundaries before being cleaned up by Imran Tahir in the 9th over. Billings has to convert these starts into big knocks instead of setting a platform for the Delhi middle order as the tournament progresses.

Rishabh Pant - (6/10)

Pant was the star of Delhi’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore scoring 57 despite his father’s demise earlier in the week. And once again, he showed his class scoring 31 off 22 balls which included 2 big sixes. He was unfortunate to be run out following a brilliant direct hit from Mayank Agarwal.

Sanju Samson - (9/10)

turned the game in favor of the Daredevils, with a masterful 102 off just 63 balls. He took the Pune bowling to the cleaners during the latter half of his innings as he took Delhi past the 200 run mark, which looked very unlikely at the halfway point.

Corey Anderson - (5/10)

The hard-hitting all-rounder was brought in as a like for like replacement for Carlos Brathwaite but he didn’t have much to do in the Delhi innings as he was happy to admire the Morris’ strokeplay from the non-striker’s end.

Chris Morris - (9/10)

The South African took on the Pune bowling after Samson’s dismissal and hit the ball to all parts of the ground finishing with a whirlwind 38* off just 9 balls which was studded with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Karun Nair - (6/10)

Though the Karnataka batsman did not bat during the Delhi innings, he pocketed the all-important catch to get rid of MS Dhoni off Amit Mishra’s bowling.

Pat Cummins - (6/10)

The Australian pacer struck twice for the Daredevils removing the most expensive foreigner in IPL history, Ben Stokes, and also his pace counterpart Ashok Dinda finishing with figures of 2/24 in 3.1 overs.

Amit Mishra - (8/10)

The leg-spinner was in his element tonight claiming the wickets of none other than MS Dhoni. Handed the ball in the 12th over, Mishra dismissed Deepak Chahar and Adam Zampa as well, ending the game with the unbelievable figures of 3/11.

Shahbaz Nadeem- (8/10)

Though Nadeem managed to get Faf du Plessis for just 8, he will be remembered for the hilarious LBW appeal against MS Dhoni in tonight’s game.

Zaheer Khan- (8/10)

The Delhi skipper proved that form is temporary but class is permanent as he rolled back the years with a vintage performance with the ball. He scalped his opposite number Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal in his opening spell, before claiming Deepak Chahar in his second to lead Delhi to a resounding victory.

Rising Pune Supergiant

Ajinkya Rahane - (4/10)

The Pune captain on the day will not want to have too many memories from today as it was under his leadership that Delhi managed to break the 200-run mark for the first time since 2012. Oh and yes he managed just 10 runs with the bat on a surface which looked like a batting paradise.

Faf du Plessis - (5/10)

Even though it was first match in this year’s IPL, more was expected from the South African skipper. He managed to get to eight runs before attempting an AB-esque shot, hitting a ball on the off side over the keeper’s head, as the ball took a nick on its way into the Pant’s gloves

Mayank Agarwal - (5/10)

The only Pune batsman that played with any sort of conviction - and that is not saying a lot. Scored 20 off 18 balls but when it came to accelerating, it was yet another poor shot that led to his demise.

Rahul Tripathi - (5/10)

By the time the debutant came in to bat the run rate had already crept above 11. He started off his IPL career with a brilliant boundary before doing an encore on the next ball. However, he was not able to keep his innings going and was dismissed for 10 by Morris.

Ben Stokes - (4/10)

The most expensive foreigner in IPL history couldn’t live up to his price tag for once as he was dismissed for a lowly score of two runs by Pat Cummins. He had a forgettable day with the ball as well, finishing with figures of 0/41 runs in 4 overs at an economy rate of 10.25. Needless to say, Pune will need him be a lot more consistent with his performances.

MS Dhoni - (4/10)

For a third game running, Dhoni struggled to find any sort of form with the bat. The former Pune captain played 14 deliveries while scoring just 11 runs - six of which came on one ball. He needs to find form real quick or it could be a repeat of last season for Pune this year as well.

Rajat Bhatia - (4/10)

Another player who needs to step up his game! The all-rounder conceded at a rate of 10.50 runs in his two overs while could only muster 16 off 17 balls with the bat.

Imran Tahir - (7/10)

The only player who can come out of this game with his head held high. Restricted the Delhi batsmen in the middle overs finishing with figures of 1/24. The wicket of Sam Billings meant that he has now taken a slender lead in the Purple cap race.

Deepak Chahar - (5/10)

Chahar was expensive with the ball with 1/35 in 3 overs and his late surge with the bat of 14 from 6 balls did little to change Pune’s fate in the game.

Adam Zampa - (5/10)

Was not given a two-over spell at any point during the innings which made it difficult for him to maintain any sort of consistency. He still did well to concede just 23 off his first three overs but the 22 he conceded in the last one just ruined his bowling figures. Oh, and he did pick up the wicket of Sanju Samson.

Ashok Dinda - (3/10)

Dinda was torn into by the Delhi batsmen and his figures of 0/36 in three overs are proof of that. Given that Dinda is the strike bowler for the Supergiant, he ought to start taking wickets for his side if he wants to stay in the side.
