With the dew settling in, even 22 fielders seemed insufficient, says Virat Kohli

Though a flat Green Park pitch helped India equally as they posted a massive target of 338, things had become a lot easier in the second-half with the Kiwis chasing it with hardly any struggle. It had come to 50 runs of 30 balls and with the dew settling in, the likes of Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav, and Axar Patel had remained largely ineffective.

“You’ve to tell yourself that the bowler knows best because he too wants to win the game. With the dew like it was, sometimes it feels even 22 fielders won’t be enough. Glad the guys pulled it through,” said Kohli while speaking at the post-match presentation.

Kohli scored yet another ton on Sunday -the 32 of his career and second against Kiwis in the series. What started as a supporting role for Rohit Sharma’s brilliant innings ended as a perfect fodder for MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav to stand upon and go for the big hits at the end. It was the 230 runs partnership between Kohli and Rohit Sharma that put India in the driving seat early on in the match. While Kohli scored 113, Sharma fell short of 150 by just three runs but landed the Man of the Match award. However, Kohli remained modest as always keeping the team ahead of his interest.
