The players that are hopeful of playing for the India A or the senior India team, are being monitored by BCCI to keep their workload in check in the ongoing IPL. These players have not been included in the central contract list by BCCI, but have caught the eyes of selectors with their performances.

According to reports from TOI, a BCCI official, on the condition of keeping his name anonymous, did elaborate on BCCI’s plans. He mentioned that BCCI has divided the players into 3 groups and gave example that the young bowlers, whose place in the side is not certain, might be told to bowl some extra bowls to important players.

"The basic plan was to divide the players into three groups. The first group comprises current U-19s. The second group is of old U-19s, where we have players who played U-19 India in last 3 to 4 years. And the third group is of current India A Players," an unnamed BCCI official told TOI.

"Let me give you an example. Young fast bowlers like Shivam Mavi or a Navdeep Saini may be asked by their franchise coaches to bowl 60 to 100 deliveries during a training session to Chris Lynn or AB de Villiers since they may not be certainties in playing XI.”

"Here the BCCI steps in. These youngsters are our assets. A Bhuvneshwar Kumarknows his body and workload but when it comes to Mavi, Navdeep or Avesh (Khan), it's our duty to protect them for greater interest of Indian cricket," the office bearer said.

Hence, a training programme has been formulated for these bowlers by NCA trainers and physios. To ensure that the programme is being followed, the trainers and physios of the respective franchises must give a timely report to NCA regarding the workload of these players.

The list of players who are included in this programme are: -

Current U-19s: Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti.

Old U19s: Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Sanju Samson.

Domestic, India A: Shreyas Iyer, Washington Sundar, Vijay Shankar, Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi, Deepak Hooda, Mayank Agarwal, Ravikumar Samarth, Navdeep Saini, Siddarth Kaul, Hanuma Vihari, and Ankit Bawne.
