IPL 2018 | I was really focusing on what to do each ball and it paid off, says Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who showed some excellent skills in the death overs, revealed that he didn’t think much about the pressure mounting on him and was focusing on the execution of each delivery. With 11 needed in the last over, Bhuvneshwar just gave 6 runs and sealed the win for his team SRH.
It was yet another win curated by Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers, who managed to defend an average score on a tough wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. Hyderabad won the match by 5 runs and got their 8th win in 10 matches that they have played so far.
RCB needed 11 in the last over to win and the game could have gone either way. However, some thoughtful thinking from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who gave just 6 runs in the last over, scripted the win for SRH. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs and picked up one wicket. After guiding Hyderabad to a win, the India pace spearhead revealed that he didn’t take much pressure while bowling and concentrated on each delivery, which paid off for him.
“I wouldn’t say I thought a lot about the pressure. I was really focusing on what to do each ball and it paid off. I always focus on execution of the Yorkers in the nets. What you practice in the nets well comes off on the park,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in the post-match interview.
On SRH’s winning streak, Bhuveshwar said, “It’s all about momentum. Last game we won with our batting and most of our games we have won with our bowling. It’s a great team effort and we hope it continues.”
Kane Williamson, who has been the rock in the middle for SRH, scored yet another 50 and was adjudged Man of the Match for his heroics. Williamson, who has now scored 410 runs in 10 matches, felt that they could have done better with their fielding and termed Bhuvneshwar as ‘world-class’. He asserted that their adaptability has played a huge part in their rise.
