Ranji Trophy | Plate Groups, Day 3: Nagaland trounce Mizoram by an innings an 333 runs

After piling a huge score of 530 runs, Nagaland packed the Mizoram second innings for 91 so as to beat them by an innings and 333 runs. In other matches of the plate group today, Meghalaya defeated Arunachal Pradesh by seven wickets and Sikkim got the better of Manipur by an innings and 27 runs.

Nagaland vs Mizoram:

Brief Scores: Mizoram: 530/8 declare beat Nagaland 106/10 and 91/10 ( Taruwar Kohli 48; Abrar Kazi 5 for 13) by an innings and 333 runs.

On the third day of the match, it was an uphill task for the Mizoram side to overcome a huge deficit after Nagaland put up a mammoth first innings score of 539 runs. Starting from an overnight score of 16/2, Mizoram innings collapsed to 91/10 as no batsmen apart from Taruwar Kohli seemed interested on staying on the crease. Abrar Kazi was the star for Nagaland with the ball too as he picked up five wickets. Earlier in the match, he had scored a double ton for the team and remained not out as well. Kazi was also declared the man of the match for his all-round performance in the match.

Meghalaya vs Arunachal Pradesh:

Brief Scores: Arunachal Pradesh: 166/10 and 131/10 lost to Meghalaya: 141/10 and 157/3(Puneet Bisht 66*, Yogesh Nagar 55*)

On the third day, Arunachal Pradesh started their innings at the overnight score of 104/6 and soon got all-out for 131 runs. They set a target of 156 runs for the Meghalaya batsmen which the latter chased down easily to win the match by seven wickets. For Meghalaya, Gurinder Singh and Abhay Negi picked four wickets each to close the Arunachal innings early. After that, Puneet Bisht and Yogesh Nagar chased down the score for Manipur after they lost three early wickets. Jason Lamare was adjudged the man of the match for scoring almost a hundred runs in the match.

Manipur vs Sikkim:

Brief Scores: Sikkim 372/10 beat Manipur 79 and 266/10(Yashpal Singh 132*, Bipul Sharma 4/55) by an innings and 27 runs.

Manipur was trailing by 170 runs overnight and started in the morning at the score of 123/2. In the first session itself, the Sikkim team started sniffing the victory as they picked four wickets in that session. Bipul Sharma and Ishwar Chaudhary picked up four and three wickets for Sikkim to pack the Manipur innings. For Manipur, Yashpal Sharma and Lakhan Rawat (70) came good, but other's failure with the bat ultimately led to them losing by an innings and 27 runs. Milind Kumar, who did a memorable one-man fightback by scoring 261 runs in the first inning for Sikkim, was declared the player of the match.
