Would have come close had the full quota of overs been bowled, claims Rovman Powell

West Indian batsman Rovman Powell has stated that he feels that the Windies would have come closer to the Indian total had the full quota of overs was bowled. The Windies were 98/4 from 15.3 overs when the match was stopped due to rain, subsequently handing India a 22-run victory by DLS method.

Rovman Powell, who top scored for the Windies with a 34-ball 54 in the 2nd T20I against India, has expressed his disappointment over rain bringing the match to an abrupt end, thus handing India the victory by DLS method. The 26-year-old believes that with six wickets still in the bank and with the likes of Carlos Brathwaite and Keemo Paul waiting in the shed, the Windies could have very well pulled off a heist.

"I think we had sufficient wickets in hand. We had Kieron Pollard and (Shimron) Hetmyer at the crease, and Carlos Brathwaite and Keemo Paul to come in. I think those are guys that could have brought it to them. I guess in the end India are runaway winners but we don't look at it and say we were far behind," Powell was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Powell also described the wicket in the second T20I as a much better one compared to the first, which saw a total of just 193 runs scored over the course of 37.2 overs. He stated that his team would have come really close to the target had the full quota of 20 overs been bowled.

"I think the wicket was a little bit better. It came onto the bat a little more. It didn't spin as much or it wasn't as slow as yesterday," he said.

"As a team, I just thought we were an over behind. If the game had finished, we probably would have won or come very close," he added.

Despite comprehensively losing the first two T20Is, Powell believes that the Windies are very much capable of beating the Indian side, terming the Virat Kohli-led team as "beatable", while also assuring that his team will put their best foot forward.

"What we will say is that the team that is heading to Guyana, we're looking to put our best foot forward," he said.

"We think this Indian team is beatable and it's just for us to string together good performances to show people that," he concluded.
