Amit Mishra has said that India must properly groom a talent like fast bowler Navdeep Saini. Mishra was happy with Saini’s consistency over the last 12 months that was rewarded with a debut cap against West Indies in the first T20I, where he starred by picking up three wickets for 17 runs.

Ever since he stepped onto the field for RCB, in the IPL, and delivered fiery darts at 145 clicks, Saini has caught the attention of every keen follower of cricket in India. The same goes for Mishra.

"Navdeep Saini is a great talent. He needs to be groomed properly. He is performing well for the past one year and has also been consistent in the IPL. He has grabbed the opportunity he has been given. We need to get 3-4 more players like him," Mishra told PTI on the sidelines of a promotional event.

Saini’s inclusion in the squad is a micro-glimpse of India’s long term project. Although the current squad is rich with youngsters, they have performed well in the situations they have been put into.

"Indian team right now doesn't lack in any department. Spinners, fast bowlers are doing well. The middle-order is also performing. There are a lot of youngsters in the team and they will gain experience once they play. I don't think we will face any problems in the long run. The little problems that we are facing is because they don't have the experience," Mishra said.

Mishra, who has featured in 68 international matches for India, was also asked regarding the option of a spinner as coach for the Indian team. Earlier, former India spinner Sunil Joshi had applied for the national team bowling coach's job.

"You should ask the management and senior players if they need it. If they believe they need a spinner as a coach then the management will look into it. We have no dearth of coaches or spinners in the country," Mishra added.
