History is evident that when it comes to quick stumpings, MS Dhoni has the best pair of eyes as his appeals have become ultimate “soft signal” for the umpires. However, today was an anomaly as Virat Kohli told Dhoni that it was a clear stumping when the former Indian skipper was unsure about it.

In his comeback match, Yuzvendra Chahal filled in Kuldeep Yadav’s absence brilliantly as his six-wicket haul made sure that Australia failed to put up a good score on the board. While he had landed the ball on good areas, he was also supported by some excellent ground fielding and a stumping dismissal by MS Dhoni.

The stumping, however, was a deviation from the norm. The incident took place in the 24th over in which Chahal bowled an outside leg-stump delivery after seeing Shaun Marsh charging down the track. The Western Australian was completely deceived by it and by the time, he understood the turn of the ball, MS Dhoni collected it and took the bails off its position.

While Dhoni was unsure whether his foot was inside the line or not, Virat Kohli put up the face of a confident man and signalled that it was a clear dismissal. The third umpire also concurred with the Indian skipper after checking the replays as it suggested that Marsh's bat was right on the line as the umpire asked him to return back to the pavilion.
