ICC World Cup 2019 | New Zealand will take confidence from emphatic win over India, says Trent Boult
New Zealandâs pace spearhead Trent Boult has said that his side will gain immense confidence from the convincing win over India in the warm-up. Boult wreaked havoc with the ball and finished with four wickets from 6.2 overs to help his side restrict India to a modest total of 179.
New Zealand punched above their weight and beat India by six wickets in the warm-up game at London. There was some purchase for the bowlers early on in the innings, which was brutally exploited by Trent Boult, who inflicted immense damage with his swing and control. And Boult has stated that New Zealand will take huge confidence from this win, which will help them do well in the tournament.  Â
âNice to see it swinging around a little bit. Iâd love to expect that everywhere, some good wickets around the country. Itâs going to be a good challenge, but us as a bowling unit, weâre definitely looking forward to it, but weâll take some confidence out of today. But yeah, the biggest challenge will be when itâs not swinging and not nipping around a little bit. Then how do we take wickets? So weâll look at that,â Boult said, reported ICC.Â
With the hype around the tournament being mostly based on the batting-friendly wickets, Boult feels chipping early wickets would put the pressure on the opposition. The left-arm New Zealander can swing the ball massively, which is also his plan in the matches to come. Â
âWe know what early wickets does to the batting side. We want to be as aggressive as we can to try and get into any teamâs batting order, so we know if we get two or three wickets at the top of the order, it puts a lot of pressure on the opposition. That is the basic plan, and for me, itâs about pitching the ball up and swinging the ball around as much as it can."
