‌SL vs IND | Twitter erupts as overzealous Siraj’s verbal exchange dents Sri Lankan batting

Sri Lanka got off to a tremendous start with the bat after deciding to bat first in Colombo. Dominant batting from Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, and Kusal Mendis steered them to 165/1 in 35 overs before Riyan Parag’s couple of scalps made way for a ruthless spell from Siraj. Eyeing for wickets, the pacer was involved in an extended verbal exchange with Kusal Mendis, resulting in the wicket of the other batter. 

Siraj bowled a good length delivery that skidded off the surface at the off stump on the third ball of the 39th over, Kusal Mendis tapped on top of the bounce before Siraj sprinted towards him and spurred a few words. The batter did not hesitate to return the bowler with a spat as well. However, a single followed in the next delivery before Siraj bowled a toe-crusher at new batter Sadeera Samarawickrama facing his first ball in the innings. The wicketkeeper-batter failed to jam the bat on time, incurring a thud at the shoe. Although he reviewed the original decision of out, Sri Lanka burned a review with Siraj reaping rewards of the aggressive intent. 

The Hyderabad-based pacer didn’t just stop there as he stared down Janith Liyange in his next over and the Twitterverse thoroughly enjoyed the fierce battle.
