Being humble and generous are traits of a successful person and Indian captain Rohit Sharma seemed to be riding a similar wave. India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados broke an eleven-year ICC trophy drought, leading to unwavering emotions as the fans welcomed the team home.

After defeating South Africa by seven runs in a humdinger grand finale, the cameras captured the raw emotions of the Indian cricketers. However, their return to home was temporarily halted by hurricane Beryl before BCCI prepared a chartered flight to New Delhi on July 3. Rohit and co. were heartily welcomed by the Indian audience with a breakfast scheduled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed by a grand felicitation in Mumbai.

During the ceremony, the Indian fans jam-packed Marine Drive even before the scheduled time of 4:00 PM for an open bus team India parade. In the evening, the Champions were seen in the procession waving at the audience. There was a point in time when the crowd chanted “Mumbai ka Raja” (meaning king of Mumbai) at the Indian captain while Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and fielding coach T Dilip beside him responded by yelling “Rohit Sharma”. The act processed on a loop before Rohit was seen blushing, leaving the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
