There is no room for sedentary work with the rising importance of fitness in sports. Karnataka prodigy Devdutt Padikkal exemplified it with a stunning grab at the slip cordon to further horrify Prithwi Shaw’s recent batting numbers in the morning session of the Irani Trophy in Lucknow.

Trying to capitalise on the slight bit of moisture present at the strip, the Rest of India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad elected to field first. Mukesh Kumar did not disappoint his captain despite leaking a four on the second ball of the match against the Mumbaikar. He made use of the new ball perfectly with the first wicket in the form of Shaw catching attention, coupled with a scintillating grab from Padikkal at the slip cordon.

Having bowled five dots in his first over, Mukesh bowled a good length delivery around the fourth stump that Shaw tried to drive off the front foot. He played the wrong line and misjudged the slight bit of outward seam movement, ending up with a nick on the outside edge. With the ball traversing towards second slip in a jiffy, Padikkal swerved to his right and grabbed the red rock out of thin air. Such catches often demand a quick reflex action and Padikkal exemplified it by raising the bar of athleticism in the sport.

What a Grab!!
