India football’s head coach Stephen Constantine is expected to be given a one-year extension by the AIFF after a meeting with the technical committee of the national body headed by its general secretary Kushal Das. The Englishman's current deal runs out early next year.

"Stephen will continue for another year. Kushal will speak to him and offer a year's extension," IANS agency quoted an unnamed source as saying. "By Nov 15 it will be confirmed,” the source added.

The AIFF technical committee also includes Bhaichung Bhutia, WIFA CEO Henry Menezes, Kerala Football Association secretary Anil Kumar and AIFF academy instructor Scott O'Donell.

Constantine was reappointed as manager of the Indian team in January 2015, after an earlier spell with the national side from 2002-05. The Englishman’s current contract expires on Feb 28.

Constantine, who is currently in North Korea, guided India into the World Cup Qualifiers, but the team finished last in the group with just one win. The Englishman led the side to the title in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship this year with a 1-0 win over Afghanistan in the final.
