Tottenham’s full-backs are dreadful, claims Roy Keane
After a titanic of a clash between Liverpool and Tottenham, the North London side walked out the worse side and Roy Keane doesn’t believe that the Spurs full-backs are good enough. Both Serge Aurier and Danny Rose struggled to cope against Liverpool’s full-backs plus Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Football in the modern era depends heavily on not just the dynamic and all-action midfielders but on marauding full-backs. Manchester City have proved that over the last few years and so have Liverpool, with the Reds building their own pair from scratch. Together both Trent Alexander Arnold and Andrew Robertson have become arguably the best in the world in their position and against Tottenham, they proved just that.
However, their opposition in the North London side did help their cause with both Serge Aurier and Danny Rose struggling to keep up at times. In the end, while Rose scuffed a clearance, Aurier committed a needless foul that lead to a penalty which Mohamed Salah successfully converted to give the home side a win. That has saw Manchester United legend Roy Keane claim that the two full-backs are downright dreadful.
A treble winner with the Red Devils, the former Irish midfielder went on to admit that Liverpool’s full-backs are the best in the world but they still need to improve certain aspects of their game.
“The two Tottenham full-backs were dreadful. Dumb and Dumber, I'd call them. I thought they were really poor. You can't compare them to Liverpool, the two lads who are absolutely fantastic. Particularly going forward, okay defensively there's parts of the games they can improve on, but going forward they're absolutely fantastic," said Keane to Sky Sports.
