Romelu Lukaku is much happier at Inter Milan now, reveals Roberto Martinez
Romelu Lukaku was one of the main players involved in this summer transfer window sagas, as he completed a move from Manchester United to Inter Milan. The striker didn't want to stay at Old Trafford and even refused to take part on the first team training sessions during their tour.
Belgian international Romelu Lukaku is slowly finding his feet again at his new club in Italy, making an impressive start to his career at San Siro. He already scored two goals in his first two matches in the Serie A and looks like a completely different player from his time at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United. This has seen Roberto Martinez praise the move, saying that the player looks happier than ever, according to the Daily Mail.
"This is the first time I have seen him free and happy. Going back to many camps I have not seen Rom so focused, so happy, so refreshed by the new challenge. I think he is now ready to face one of the biggest footballing chapters in his career with the Inter Milan move." expressed the Belgium boss to the Daily Mail.
"Romelu is one of those modern footballers, he was born with attention. He had the media following him around in Belgium since he was 16. He had the expectations of a team that had to win at Anderlecht with Champions League participation. Then he had a big transfer to Chelsea, had his time at West Brom, then handled big transfers to Everton, Manchester United and now Inter.
"Romelu doesn’t get affected. He is one of the most driven boys you can see. His life is football, he lives to score goals. So I haven’t seen a difference. It is true he was sad with the episode he had to go through but I’m sure that is something everyone in football will try to help him and hopefully, people running football will eradicate it,” added Martinez.
We can probably expect a career year from the 26-year-old with the Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte's guidance, a manager who knows him very well that could extract the best out of the player.
