Gujarat Fortunegiants skipper Sunil Kumar is of the belief that his team made several mistakes in the match by making advanced tackle attempts and said they could have done better in defence. Gujarat lost to U Mumba by 32-20 last night and this was also their first defeat in the season.

Gujarat Fortunegiants were unbeaten before last night's encounter as they had won their three matches before with big margins and their players seemed in great touch. In this match, however, the team made several mistakes which cost them the match. The Fortunegiants made as many as 14 unsuccessful tackle attempts and made a lot of advanced tackles attempts.

“That’s where we could have done better. They weren’t attacking us, but we went in and attacked them, and gave too many points away to their raiders,” Gujarat Fortunegiants skipper Sunil Kumar said in the post-match press conference.

U Mumba performed better in all departments as compared to their previous match in their home leg. Their defence managed to score 12 points collectively and also inflicted all-outs. With the help of super tackles and a super raids, they took the lead. Even though most of the contribution was by the defence, the raiders managed to strike at crucial moments which helped U Mumba inflict two all-outs and emerge victorious at the end of the game on Friday.

“Every match was important, but this match was more important because we are in the home leg and we lost two matches. We were unlucky in the last two matches, but we learned from them. Tonight was important because if we had lost three straight matches as a home team then it would have brought the confidence down. But we have bounced back. Now in the next match, we will go with more energy,” U Mumba captain Fazel Atrachali mentioned.
