England have shown no signs of improvement in the do-or-die WACA Test of the Ashes series as their batting collapse was followed by a dismal fielding show. Jonny Bairstow and Mark Stoneman messed up an easy catch of Shaun Marsh in the closing stages leaving, Twitteratti to embark on a trolling run.

At the end of the first day of the third Test, England looked at a strong position as they ended the game with the scoreboard reading 305/4. They looked like giving a good lead in the first innings for the first time in the series before yet another batting collapse saw them getting limited to just 403 runs. The bowlers needed to do some serious damage early on in the game to squeeze out any kind of an edge from the first innings, but thanks to England's poor fielding, Australia ended the day with no real damage at all.

Luck didn't seem to favour England either as Joe Root missed an easy catch of Usman Khawaja at the slip. It happened only on his third ball and he was at 0 before the left-hander went on to get his half-century later in the game. Consequently, skipper Steven Smith and Khawaja comfortably saw off the new ball recovering well from the precarious position of 55/2. However, that was not it as England went on to drop another vital catch, later on in the game, of Marsh.

The incident occurred in the 59th over of Australia’s first innings just after they had crossed the 200-run mark. Moeen Ali delivered the fourth delivery to Marsh who was playing at 7 runs as he attempted to flick it. However, the ball didn't get the middle of his bat and bounced up after hitting Mark Stoneman’s boots, who was fielding at the short leg. It was set for an easy catch in the second attempt, which saw both Stoneman and Bairstow going for the grab but none of them got to it with the ball falling right between their hands. They will now wait another day to find out how costly would this miss be.
