In their first warm-up game of the Champions Trophy, India eased past New Zealand by 45 runs. After a collective bowling effort led by Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, skipper Virat Kohli's stylish half-century supported by a sweet cameo from MS Dhoni paved the way for an Indian victory.

Riding on impeccable bowling performances by the Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who took three wickets apiece, India dismantled the New Zealand batting order for a modest score of 189.

In response, skipper Virat Kohli took charge of the Indian innings after Ajinkya Rahane's dismissal and played some stylish shots to take India to a comfortable victory. The stylish right-hander looked at the top of the game as he played some classy drives in his 52-run innings. But the shot that stood apart was Kohli's characteristic cover drive that also brought on his half-century.

The 35-year old continued his good form with the bat as well playing a sweet little cameo of 17 consisting of two boundaries and a maximum before rain interrupted play and India were declared winners by the D/L method.

The shot that stood out in Dhoni's innings was his strong back-foot punch that cleared the ropes for a maximum and brought smiles to millions of faces including the Kiwis who themselves couldn't stop admiring Dhoni's brilliance.
