AB de Villiers assures RCB bowlers are rectifying their mistakes

AB de Villiers has played down Royal Challengers Bangalore’s ongoing bowling concerns stating that the bowlers are aware of the mistakes they are committed to improving themselves in the coming games. De Villiers also admitted that the team finally has the squad to go all the way this season.

RCB have managed to win two of the five games that they have played so far with poor bowling one of their main concerns. They started the season with a defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders which saw the hosts easily chasing 176 in 19 overs. While their third game saw Rajasthan Royals amassing a huge total of 217 in the first innings before the RCB batsmen fell short by 19 runs, Mumbai Indians against got over the 200-run mark batting first again to hand RCB a 46-run defeat in the fourth game.

However, RCB bowlers did considerably well to restrict Kings XI Punjab within 160 and Delhi Daredevils within 180 in the second and fifth game respectively. And de Villiers has stated that the bowlers know their mistakes and are working on them.

"At the end of the day what it comes down to is the kind of wickets. I guess we made a much better bowling performance in the last game than what we had started out with. Our bowlers have committed a few small mistakes of bowling a couple of no balls and wides, but would like to rectify them in next game," he said, reported PTI.

After starting the league terribly, RCB would expect to hold on to their winning streak that they received against DD and with three back-to-back games in Chinnaswamy against Chennai Super Kings, KKR and Mumbai Indians, de Villiers has targeted to win them all.

"They say that if you make your home ground your fortress in the season you normally tend to win. We know it is important to do well at home. We have already had a bad last year, but we had a couple of good wins as well," he said.

"So, over the next few games that we will play here, we will keep doing that. It is important for us to make sure that if we get to maintain that at home, sometimes you surprise yourself in the run," he added.

RCB has undeniably been one of the most entertaining sides in the IPL since the inception which has seen the likes of Chris Gayle, de Villiers and Virat Kohli set the stage on fire on few occasions every season. However, they are yet to lift the IPL after 10 years and de Villiers has claimed that they have the team this season that could go all the way.

"I was not here for the first three years. I don't know what they were doing then. For the last three seasons, we've been trying our best. Even in this season we've got a few new faces. So hopefully we have got that special one to win this season," he added.
