Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Siddarth Kaul has been reprimanded by the BCCI, which is presumed to be for his animated celebrations in the match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on Tuesday. The 27-year-old has become Hyderabad’s strike bowler this season with nine wickets in six matches.

Emotions were running high on Tuesday but that was exactly what was needed for Sunrisers Hyderabad to defend a low target of 118 runs against defending champions Mumbai Indians. And though they completed a rout of the hosts with just more than an over to spare, it came at a cost for the 2016 champions. Kaul, who ended the night with impressive figures of 3/23, was reprimanded for a Level 1 offence by the board.

A BCCI media release on Wednesday confirmed that the player has admitted to the offence under 2.1.4 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials. In case of Level 1 breaching of code of conduct, the match referee's decision is taken as the final one.

Though BCCI didn’t mention the exact details that led to Kaul’s punishment, it was presumably for the pacer's animated celebrations in the death overs where he was seen with over the top celebrations after claiming the wickets Mayank Markande and Hardik Pandya.

SRH came into the IPL with a bowling-heavy side and has quite expectedly excelled in it so far. However, what has surprised many is Kaul’s emergence from the camp that has the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Hooda, Sandeep Sharma, Billy Stanlake and more. Bhuvneshwar has, however, played two lesser matches than Kaul owing to his sore back.
