Allrounder Daniel Christian kept appealing for an LBW decision to get the opposition player Faf Du Plessis’ wicket and ultimately the Umpire gave the decision in Christian’s favour. The incident took place in the match between Jozi Stars and Paarl Rocks in the ongoing Mzanzi Super League.

There are many ploys employed by cricketers to get a favourable decision from the umpire in a cricket match. In one such incident, in a match between two Mzansi Super League teams Jozi Stars and Paarl Rocks when Jozi Stars’ allrounder Daniel Christian, in the sixteenth over of the match, appealed incessantly to force the umpire to give an LBW decision in his favour.

On the third ball of the sixteenth over, Christian bowled a straight delivery which the Paarl rocks captain Faf Du Plessis tried to scoop to the fine leg boundary for four runs but in trying to do so Du Plessis missed the ball totally and the ball hit his pads without touching any part of the willow.

As soon as the ball hit the pads Christian started appealing relentlessly. Though the umpire did not seem interested in the appeal initially after a while as the bowler launched a second wave of appeals and eventually forced the umpire to declare the Paarl Rocks skipper out. While the eventual decision appeared to be the right one, Christian had an expression of disgust on his face for having to appeal as much for a straight forward decision.
