Amitabh Choudhary blames Vinod Rai for not telling the truth

Amitabh Choudhary is adamant that he has done nothing wrong during his term as BCCI acting secretary as he claims that Committee of Administrators chairman Vinod Rai has been lying to the media. Choudhary has also added that he does not know why he’s the only one being targeted by CoA members.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse in the case of the never-ending tussle for power between the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The CoA, led by Vinod Rai, has constantly accused the BCCI of keeping things hidden from the former and also blamed certain officials of misusing BCCI funds, one of which was BCCI acting secretary - Amitabh Choudhary.

However, Choudhary has shifted the blame back onto the SC-appointed committee in a recent one-on-one with TOI personnel where he claimed that Rai has been feeding lies to the Indian media.

"Vinod Rai is not entirely telling the truth. This same secretary was the COA's blue eyed boy until the 4th status report. What happened then? As far as the ICC matter on Champions Trophy format is concerned, all proposals on tournaments and formats are finalised in CEC meetings. Why is COA blaming me? The CEC precedes board meeting," Choudhary said in the interview.

Choudhary continued with his rant against the CoA members as he reacted to COA's allegation that he acted unilaterally on Day & Night Tests’ decision that was made recently.

"I have not acted unilaterally. I was accused of taking a policy decision which is incorrect. The decision was taken on June 2016 in Dharamsala. So, after this background work had been executed, I said one Test match can be day and night. Then I took the opinion of the team management who gave it in writing. I never act unilaterally," Choudhary said.
