Carlos Brathwaite has asserted that it is important for the Windies cricket to get the best out of everyone in the team so that they can pose a challenge in the next T20 World Cup. He also mentioned that the team had a chat before the game and they talked about every game being crucial for them.

West Indian captain Carlos Brathwaite was not pleased with the loss after coming so close to the finishing line in the last T20I of the series against the Indians in Chennai. The thrilling final game went till the last ball and the home side managed to chase down the target of 182 as Manish Pandey picked up a single. However, the West Indian captain praised the performance of the Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran for their contribution. Pooran was the top-scorer in the Chennai T20I for the visitors as he scored a quick-fire 53 off 25 balls.

"There are a few here; Shai, Hetmyer and Pooran. But it is important to get the best out of everyone and create a unit that can challenge for the T20 World Cup in Australia," said Brathwaite, reported PTI.

West Indies had lost the first two T20 games of the series after losing the Test and the ODI series in this tour to India. But, the team was quite hopeful of a good show in the last encounter in Chennai and according to the skipper, the team wanted to treat every game equally important. They managed to take the third T20I till the last ball even after a 130-run stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant but couldn’t make their fans happy as they were clean swept in the end by the Indians.

"It would have been (great end to the series). We had a chat before the game and talked about every game being important. We wanted to put a smile on the fans' face but didn't get the result we would have liked," Brathwaite explained.

"I will take the effort and belief, especially taking it to the last ball after Shikhar and Rishabh's partnership. We saw a few balls grip but on reflection we did not switch quickly enough."
