Senuran Muthuswamy was ecstatic upon his maiden call-up to the South Africa Test team and hopes to make his debut during the upcoming India Tour. The Proteas all-rounder has scored 3375 runs and picked up 128 wickets in first-class cricket and represents KwaZulu-Natal in the domestic setup.

Emerging South African left-arm spinner Senuran Muthuswamy earned his maiden Test team call-up for the upcoming Test series against India which is due to start in the first week of October. The Proteas will travel to India and play a series of three Test matches which will be part of the ICC Test Championship schedule.

Muthuswamy, who made his first class debut in 2013, revealed that he is ecstatic at being named in the South Africa squad for the first time in his career and hopes to make his debut on the India tour.

“I am overwhelmed with the selection and all of the messages that I have received.

“It is the dream of any cricketer to be selected in your national test squad and I cannot wait to get to India with the team and hopefully make my debut on this tour. We still have the spin camp as well as the SA ‘A’ tour to India so there is plenty of time for me to prepare for the Test series,” Muthuswamy told Cricketnext in a recent interview.

The 25-year-old has already represented South Africa A in 2018 and an impressive first-class record where he scored 3375 runs at an average of 33.41 and picked 128 wickets at an average of 27.68. The left-handed batsman represents KwaZulu-Natal in the domestic setup and the team's CEO - Heinrich Strydom - said it was a proud moment for the team for a player to earn a national call-up.

“We are extremely proud of Senuran’s selection for the Proteas squad.

“It’s the pinnacle of cricket to represent your country on the test match stage and to have Senuran join Keshav in the set-up is a testament to the strides we are making at KZN Cricket. We cannot wait to see how he goes and we hope that he learns as much as possible whilst being surrounded by our national squad,” CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom said.
