To manage the workload of Jasprit Bumrah, Indiaā€™s most valuable player in overseas conditions in the last one year, the BCCI has decided to bring in Mohammed Siraj to replace the pace bowler. On the other hand, Sidharth Kaul will replace the Gujarat fast bowler in the New Zealand T20Is.

Bumrah was clearly one of the most overworked players in the lastĀ series as he bowled as many as 157.1 overs in the four-Test series against Australia. With the World Cup coming up this year, BCCI decided to include Siraj to replace Bumrah.

"Keeping in mind the workload of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia," the BCCI release said.

Siraj has picked up seven wickets in his last Ranji Trophy game against Punjab and in the three first-class games against New Zealand A in New Zealand, he was in a wicket-taking spree. On the other hand, Kaul, who has replaced Bumrah in New Zealand T20Is, has ten wickets in his last two first-class games against Kerala and Hyderabad.

India willĀ start their three-match ODI series against Australia on January 12 before ending the tour in Melbourne on January 18. Then they will cross the Tasman river to play New Zealand for five ODIs from January 23 and before concluding with three T20Is that will end on February 10.Ā
