ICC World Cup 2019 | Hashim Amla expected to be fit for South Africa's game against India

Hashim Amla is expected to recover fully and be available for South Africa’s third game against India on June 5. The opening batsman missed out on the second encounter against Bangladesh on Sunday after suffering a nasty blow on the grill of his helmet in their opening game against England.

South Africa’s opening batsman Hashim Amla needed some medical attention after being struck on the helmet by Jofra Archer in the inaugural game against England at The Oval. He missed the second game against Bangladesh but is expected to be fit for the third game against India on June 5. Team manager Mohammed Moosajee gave an update on Amla’s injury and said that the team is hopeful for his timely recovery before the game against India.

“Hashim hasn’t fully recovered from the blow sustained to the helmet during the match against England on Thursday and is not available for selection for the match today. With the quick turnaround between the two matches, he is being rested as a precaution, based on our post-match re-assessment. We are hopeful that he will make a full recovery to be available for selection for our next match against India,” said Moosajee, reported PTI.

Amla has immense experience under his belt and holds the key for South Africa’s batting at the top alongside Quinton de Kock. The veteran has not been able to weave his magic in recent times but will look to make amends at the earliest.
