ICC World Cup 2019 | Kevin Pietersen trolls Indian management for not dropping Vijay Shankar for Rishabh Pant

Kevin Pietersen was sarcastic in his remarks for India’s selection and questioned India’s repeated attempts to keep Rishabh Pant away in favour of Vijay Shankar. Pietersen has been a strong advocate of the Delhi Southpaw's ability and was calling for his inclusion ever since the team was declared.

Pant is quite a flamboyant cricketer and although there is doubt about his game-reading ability, one would really struggle to find out any problems with his flair and temperament. His ability to change the course of the game in a go has been his strength, which Pietersen seems very fond of and reiterated the same in a Tweet, albeit sarcastically.

“Dear Virat & Ravi - please don’t drop Vijay Shankar.  I think he’s coming into his own and would potentially win you tomorrow’s game. Don’t think about Pant. He needs another 3 weeks prep before I think he can get into your World Cup side. Thanks, boys!,” KP wrote in a Tweet.

Vijay Shankar was drafted into the playing XI after Shikhar Dhawan was excluded from the team due to a thumb injury and is out of the competitive cricket for at least one month. However, Shankar has failed to prove his mettle as the No.4 batsman, with his bat remaining largely silent. Pietersen, who has always been critical of the Tamil Nadu all-rounder’s temperament, doesn’t seem to be impressed.
