Sunil Gavaskar has predicted that the 2019 World Cup final would be between star-studded sides India and England and MS Dhoni would be Virat Kohli’s biggest advantage. However, Matthew Hayden threw in Australia into the mix while Michael Clarke stated that fortune would favour the bold.

Despite the recent setback against Australia in the T20I series, one cannot deny the fact that the Indian team would be one of the strongest contenders for World Cup coming May. With most of the other teams getting accustomed to the rigours of the English condition, Virat Kohli and co. have already had their share of experience and could do the best planning for the extravaganza.

However, Gavaskar has been of the opinion that apart from the acclimatization, India’s biggest advantage would be Dhoni from behind the stumps, who would act as an acting captain when Kohli would not be around.

"It certainly is an India vs England final. I think the best thing for Virat is that he has got MS Dhoni around him - Virat has to be in the deep. From the deep, it's not always possible.. that's when MSD comes into play. That is Virat's biggest plus,” said Gavaskar at the India Today Conclave 2019 on Friday, reported India Today.

"He has got a bowling attack which can take wickets in any kind of conditions. 390 is not going to happen with this Indian bowling attack. All-round, the team that has got, is the team that is being moulded by MSK Prasad and his co-selectors," Gavaskar added.

Along with Gavaskar were also present former Aussie World Cup winners Mathew Hayden and Michael Clarke, who were of the opinion that it would be a three-horse race with Australia also in it. With Justin Langer recently confirming that the suspended duo of David Warner and Steven Smith, they wouldn’t be a pushover either.

"Three-horse race. Australia should be there. India and England. They feel the home pressure and that gives Australia and India a great chance," said Hayden.

"I believe the most courageous team will win the World Cup. Australia in regards to the competition are trying to compete as opposed to trying to win. Selection has got to be courageous. Five or six teams can win it. The key is to make to make it to the semi-finals," Clarke said.
