BCCI Operations Committee has proposed the Committee of Administrators to give the green light to Rahul Dravid’s appointment as the head coach of the National Cricket Academy. Currently, Dravid is coaching both U-19 and India A teams and may take over the new role as the extra responsibility.

After having a brief post-retirement gig in the commentary box, Dravid has been coaching the India under-19 and ‘A’ teams and has had quite an impact by graduating youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Vijay Shankar, and Hanuma Vihari to the international level.

That seems to have impressed the BCCI as general manager cricket operations Saba Karim and NCA chief operating officer Tufan Ghosh proposed Committee of Administrators (CoA) at their last meeting to appoint Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

“He has been the link between the Indian team and selectors. He has been guiding everyone behind the scenes. He is the one who has been informing selectors whether a particular player is ready for international cricket or not. We felt it's the right time to have him on board for the bigger role. The idea was proposed during the last COA meeting and it will be taken forward accordingly,” BCCI sources told Indian Express.

Currently, NCA has only one full-time coach in the form of former leg-spinner Narendra Hirwani as the bowling coach and the head coach position has remained vacant after former India opener WV Raman left the post after being appointed as the coach of the national women’s team.
