ICC World Cup 2019 | Shaun Marsh ready to take guard at any position for Australia
Shaun Marsh has asserted that he is ready to bat at any given position in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. Marsh has been prolific in recent times and did well in the unofficial warm-up game against Windies, where he scored an unbeaten 55 to help his side gun down the target with ease.
Australia have started to peak at the very right time and have beaten India and Pakistan in consecutive ODI series recently to gain immense momentum. Marsh had a prolific time against England last year, where he amassed 288 at a staggering average of 57.60.
Marsh did well against Pakistan as well, scoring 182 runs at 60.66. However, the return of David Warner and Steve Smith to the Australian ranks has in a way put Marsh’s spot in jeopardy. The southpaw continued his good form in the unofficial warm-up game as well, where he scored an unbeaten 55 and accounted for a century stand with Steve Smith to help his side chase down 230. Marsh has batted at various positions throughout his career and feels that he is flexible when it comes to batting.
"I'd like to think I'm nice and flexible, I've batted from one to six throughout my career. I'm just going to try and enjoy the next two practice games and spend more time out in the middle and see what happens," Marsh said, reported Cricbuzz.
English conditions are little different than Australia and the fifty against Windies has infused confidence in the southpaw. "It certainly gives you confidence if you've scored runs here in the past, it was nice to spend some time out in the middle and get my feet moving. I enjoy batting out here. Obviously, it's a different challenge. The wickets are slower to what they are back home, and it swings around a bit," Marsh added.
