ICC World Cup 2019 | Always good to start World Cup with a win, says Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was happy after India pulled off a much-needed win against Bangladesh in their final warm-up game as he hoped that they could do the same in the World Cup opener. India begin their WC campaign against Faf du Plessis-led South Africa at the Rose Bowl Stadium on June 5.

Last week, India slumped to a disappointing six-wicket loss against New Zealand in their opening warm-up game ahead of the start of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 as the upper batting order crumbled under some brilliant pace bowling from Trent Boult. However, the men in blue recovered well from the setback as they registered a 95-run win against Bangladesh in their final warm-up encounter on Tuesday at Cardiff.

India pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, who was part of the Indian team that played yesterday, revealed that the win against Mashrafe Mortaza & Co. will serve as a boost ahead of the start of the World Cup.

"It was tough conditions for both batsmen and bowling, but we did well in both departments, so it will give a big boost to the team going into the world cup.

"You always want to start with a win in the World Cup but right now I cannot say what we will be thinking or planning. We have almost a week. When we will practice and have meetings then we will decide what we need to do against them (South Africa) and their individual players," Kumar said as per PTI sources.

The 29-year old pacer further added that the Indian pace attack are well aware of how to take advantage of the favorable English conditions and is looking forward to helping the team with the ball in the coming weeks.

"We all know England conditions help fast bowlers. Our (Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar) role will be crucial. We three know as an individual what strength we have and what more we need to do which will help the team. We three share our experience which helps. If it will swing it will give advantage to all. But we will see how conditions turn out to be. If it does, it will be an additional boost for bowlers," Kumar added.
