Youngsters will definitely look to feed off Yuvraj in T10 league, believes Hashim Amla
Yuvraj Singh has signed up for the Maratha Arabians in the T10 league and veteran Proteas batsman Hasim Amla is quite excited to share his company in his first season of the league. He expected that youngsters will learn a lot from Yuvraj and he himself is pretty excited to get going in the league.
One thing the numerous leagues popping up around the world have been missing is the presence of Indian players and former Indian batter Yuvraj Singh is on a roll to fill the vacuum. After declaring his retirement, Yuvraj has not only been active in the domestic circuit but also have been participating in leagues overseas.
He first participated in the T20 league in Canada and is now he all set to feature in the Abu Dhabi T20 league for the Martha Arabians. Former South African opener Hashim Amla is quite excited to compete with the likes of Yuvraj Singh. He expressed how happy he is with Yuvraj participating as youngsters would learn a lot from him.
"I suppose you want cricketers from all over the world and Yuvraj now is involved and that is fantastic. It is difficult to comment because Indian cricket have their own set of regulations. But to have Yuvraj involved in T10 and to have youngsters being able to play with him, he has been a fantastic cricketer for 20-odd years and he has got so much to add value to. It is just great having him around and there is no doubt that youngsters will look to feed off him," Times Now quoted Amla saying so to IANS.
He also expressed his emotions about playing the shortest format the sport has seen and also shared it will be nostalgic as he has grown to play it with his friends. This season will be Amla’s first of the league as he will be taking the field for Karnataka Tuskers.
"I am very excited. T10 is a new format in the sense that it has been around for only three or four years. But it has been around for many years in our backyards and when we were growing up playing with our friends. But to have it on a professional level is fantastic. The first few editions have been spoken of very highly and I am excited to be a part of it and see how it progresses and different skills it allows you to bring to the table," he shared.
The Dreams2Play app will be organising a talent hunt program and is planning to skim out budding amateur players around the world who are interested to play in the league. Talking about the program, Amla termed it as a ‘mind-boggling opportunity’ for youngsters.
"It is a really mind-boggling opportunity when you think of it from the point of view of a youngster. With the digital age, things have become a lot easier, but this has made it so much more wonderful for youngsters who want to play cricket with some of the international cricketers. You always hear of people not having enough opportunities across countries, but with this wonderful app that is available, you can bypass a lot of obstacles that could have been there and it allows the youngsters to be seen by some of the top coaches," the 36-year-old signed off.
