Sunil Chettri has termed the ISL final against Chennaiyin FC, which will be held tomorrow, as the most import game of his life. The 33-year-old striker also lauded coach Albert Roca for showing tremendous trust in all the players after Roca played a weakened team against Abahani in the AFC Cup.

Two-time I-League winners Bengaluru FC were one of the two teams allowed to come into the ISL this year after the league saw a revamped version and they impressed one and all by finishing their debut campaign at the top of the points table with 13 wins from 18 games. They also had a comprehensive win in the semi-final against Pune City FC beating the Maharashtra side 3-1 on aggregate. Ahead of the final, Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chettri has termed this final against Chennaiyin as the most important game of his life.

“For a club, which had won four trophies in four years, to come into a new league wasn't easy. Tomorrow, I don't know. It is the most important game of my life," Chhetri, reported News 18.

Chhetri spoke highly of coach Albert Roca as well. The skipper lauded the coach for showing tremendous trust in all the players, which was quite evident as the Spaniard fielded two different teams in the ISL and AFC Cup matches recently.

“Roca has trust in every player. We treat AFC Cup very high. For us AFC Cup is very huge. For him to pick two different teams on March 11 and 14, that tells you how much the coach trusts them. Another good thing about Roca is he knows exactly what he wants. Even when we lost so many players in the draft, the process was the same - keep trying hard and move on,” he said.

The 33-year-old who is also the captain of the Indian football team was all praise for his team members. He revealed that his job as captain becomes easy because every player including Miku and Dimas Delgado have the hunger to improve every match.

“As a leader, my job is very easy because I don't have to do anything. I see Miku working after training, we see Dimas (Delgado) working so hard. I am really fortunate that I am the captain of a team where everyone wants to improve,” the Bengaluru FC captain added.

Chhetri also lauded scheduling of ISL this time around, but called for further improvement. “I think it is miles better this year. We have been able to juggle well,” the 33-year-old said.

Bengaluru FC will play Chennaiyin FC in the final of this season’s ISL tomorrow. Bengaluru will host the title-clash and the home fans will be itching to see Sunil Chhetri lift the ISL title.
