Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has stated that he doesnā€™t expect Arsenal or Manchester United to finish in the top four this season. Both the sides have struggled to get off the mark this season and sit eight and nine points respectively behind the top four despite a summer of heavy spending.

Arsenal and Manchester United missed out on Champions League spots at the end of last season despite the two sides making a healthy push for the top four. In the end, the Gunners finished in fifth place and the Red Devils finished in sixth which saw them spend heavily over the summer. But that hasnā€™t changed their status in the league with both sides struggling to put their best foot forward.

The North London giants sit in sixth place and are eight points off the top four, while Manchester United are in seventh and are nine points off Manchester City in fourth. But despite there still being 26 games left in the season, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that he doesnā€™t see the two sides finishing in the top four. Redknapp also added that he believes Tottenham have a chance but itā€™s a slim window and one that they need to take.

"Tottenham have it all on now to get in the top four this year. The only thing now in their favour is that Arsenal looks so poor. Chelsea are doing great, theyā€™re going to be challenging. Leicester are going to be bang in there. But youā€™re looking at Arsenal ā€” and Manchester United ā€” and wondering if they are going to make it this year. I can see both of those two not making the top four unless there is a big improvement," he told The Sun.

"Itā€™s been a disappointing season so far for Spurs. I really thought they would be close to Manchester City and Liverpool and challenging. Itā€™s difficult. The players havenā€™t hit the form they did last year. Iā€™m a big fan of the manager and hopefully, they can turn it around."

Much like their London rivals, Tottenham have also struggled to find their footing this season and are on a dire run of five games without a win in the league. Furthermore, their performances have seen them win their first game on the road since January just before the international break. But even that streak in the league is still ongoing and it has added pressure on Mauricio Pochettino.

But Redknapp went on to admit that Tottenham could find their way back to form and the former Spurs boss believes that Dele Alli could be key to helping bring about that change.

"Dele is striking a bit of form again. He is a key player for me, Iā€™m such a fan of his. They tell me he is a great lad as well. He got badly criticised for his performance [in the 2-1 loss] at Liverpool, but he covered more yards than any other player by so much it was ridiculous, and yet he got criticised for not running or working hard after the game.

"When you looked at it he had certainly put a shift in. Itā€™s not gone well but I think heā€™s a good kid and a good trainer. His form has dipped. He hit such high standards a year or two before. If he can get back to that form again then that would be a major boost," he said.
