PKL 2019 | Tamil Thalaivas' experience was useful for them, says Gholamreza Mazandarani
After losing their second consecutive game, Telugu Titans coach Gholamreza Mazandarani has stated that Tamil Thalavias' experience helped them win the match. The Iranian also talked about them being a young side and how rectifying errors will help them improve further in the tournament.
Nothing is going right for Telugu Titans at the moment, they have already lost two of their four home games. On Sunday, they lost to Tamil Thalavias 26-39 as the home side were outplayed by the Thalaivas on all fronts. Thalaivas have the experience of Manjeet Chhillar, Mohit Chhillar and Ran Singh in the defence while the raiding unit comprises of Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur.
“There were a few individual moments where we could have done better, and their experience proved to be quite useful for them,” said Titans coach Gholamreza Mazandarani said in the post-match presentation.
Their two main raiders Siddharth Desai and Rajnish managed to score only 10 points collectively. The defence unit seemed off as well with Vishal Bhardwaj, the former captain, made as many as six unsuccessful tackle attempts. Titans lack a good all-rounder as Farhad Milaghardan looked ineffective as he scored only three points and had three unsuccessful tackles and one unsuccessful raid against his name.
“We have a very young roster. So, above all, the experience that these young players are gaining is the most important thing at this point in time. They will learn from this experience and rectify errors. So, over the course of the season, we will try to improve,” Mazandarani explained.
As they have a break, the Titans need to look at their combinations and come up with better strategies to get improve the results with two more games to go in their home leg. Before their third game on 24th July, the coach has said that they will plan the best course of action.Â
“We’ll have a discussion about our tactics. We’ll plan the best course of action and try to execute that against Dabang Delhi KC. Maybe we could look at our combinations and try some new ones in the upcoming game,” the Iranian stated.
