Leander Paes-Scott Lipsky pair enter quarterfinals of Ricoh Open
Leander Paes and his Amercian partner Scott Lipsky overcame a gritty Steve Darcis and Gilles Muller 7-5, 6-4 to seal a quarterfinal berth in the ATP 250 Ricoh Open men's doubles category. The Indian-American duo will next face Rajeev Ram and Raven Klassen in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The unseeded pair of Leander Paes and Scott Lipsky had to fight hard to earn a quarterfinals spot in the Euro 660,375 grass court tournament when they went up against the Belgian-Luxembourg duo of Steve Darcis and Gilles Muller. But the pair kept their nerves in check and capitalised on their opponents mistakes in the contest that lasted for an hour and eleven minutes.
The first set saw an intense battle between the two pairs when they tiedĀ the set on five each after breaking each other once. However, Paes and Lipsky outlasted their opponents by breaking in two consecutive games to seal the set in theirĀ favour, although the duo trailed in the deciding game 30-0.
Darcis and Muller were not ready to submit easily and started the second set in a commanding position taking away the first game
