India vs Bangladesh | Indian players rated and slated from their six-wicket win against Bangladesh
India finally got going in the Nidahas Trophy as they blew away Bangladesh in their second game by six wickets. While Jaydev Unadkat and Shikhar Dhawan justified their selection with good performance, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant left a lot to be desired with abject displays with the bat.
Rohit Sharma (5/10) – The skipper yet again failed to impress as his struggles in the shortest format of the game continue. He appeared to be going well with three boundaries in three overs but ended up chopping a Mustafizur Rahman ball back onto his stumps. He really needs to start leading by example if he wants to retain his place as a captain.
Shikhar Dhawan (8/10) - 72, 24, 47, 90, and 55. These are not just random numbers but Dhawan’s last five scores in T20Is. He has been exceptional since his struggles in the Tests against South Africa and looked well the part
Rishabh Pant (5/10) - The talented Delhi boy was promoted up the order ahead of Raina but he failed to deliver. Despite getting off the mark with a boundary, the youngster dragged one back onto his stumps to bring a premature end to his innings.
Suresh Raina (6/10) - After both Rohit and Pant had been sent packing the experienced southpaw walked in and stabilized the innings along with Dhawan. While he spent most of the time rotating the strike, Raina played his shots when the bowlers offered him the room. However, his dropped catch and style of getting out will see him lose a point on our rankings.
Manish Pandey (6/10) - Not too much to do for the batsman as Pant was sent above him in the batting order today. Managed to end up with 27* at the end as India secured the six-wicket victory.
Dinesh Karthik (6/10) - Didn’t do too much with the bat but did manage to get Shankar his first wicket as he convinced Rohit to go for a successful review.
Washington Sundar (7/10) – Sunder showed why Rohit Sharma has so much faith in him as he was handed the ball in the second over of the innings. Although he didn’t pick up any wickets today, it wasn’t for lack of trying. With an economy of just 5.75, he showed why he is held in such high regard on the domestic circuit.
Vijay Shankar (7/10) – When Linton Das was dropped twice in one over of his bowling, he might have thought that his first wicket might not come today. But it did (Mushfiqur Rahim) and along with it came another one (Mahmudullah). With an economy of
Jaydev Unadkat (7/10) – It’s hard to say whether he had a good day or a bad one. Even though he claimed a couple of wickets in his last two overs, to go with the first wicket of the day, he gave away an astonishing 38 runs – the most by any bowler on the day. By the standards that he sets, he would not be too pleased by it.
Yuzvendra Chahal (8/10) – Chahal was back to economical best again. In his four overs, the leggie leaked just 19 runs and choked the Bangladesh batsmen for any sort of room. The dangerous Linton Das’ wicket was just the icing on the cake for the Indian spinner.
Shardul Thakur (7/10) – An impressive performance by the Indian pacer. After showcasing his comeback abilities with nothing to show in the last game, he was bang on song today as he claimed the wicket of Tamim Iqbal who looked dangerous early on.
