According to Goal, Juventus are looking at Domenico Berardi as an alternative to Angel Di Maria after Barcelona stepped into the race for the Argentine forward. The former Real Madrid star is set to leave PSG at the end of this month on a free transfer and has been linked with a move to Italy.

While reports indicated that Juventus were the front-runners to sign Angel Di Maria this summer, their move for the Argentine has been potentially scuppered by Barcelona. The former Real Madrid star will leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer at the end of June and has been looking for a one year contract before he reportedly departs to play in Argentina. However, reports indicated that Juventus offered the forward a two-year deal but Di Maria has since stalled on negotiations.

That was because Barcelona have emerged as a late suitor with the La Liga giants looking to add reinforcements this summer to Xavi Hernandez’s team. It has upset Juventus as the club want the deal done as soon as possible and Goal has reported that they have switched their stance, with their target now on Domenico Berardi. The Sassuolo attacker has been an assist machine for the Neroverdi which even saw Juventus buy him in 2013.

However, Berardi never played a game for the Old Lady as he was loaned back to Sassuolo for two years before the move was made permanent. But the 27-year-old’s consistency has attracted the Turin giants with them now reportedly open to spending the money to sign the Italian permanently. But Saussolo do have the upper hand when it comes to negotiations as Berardi has two years left on his current contract although the 27-year-old is reportedly open to leaving the club.
