Thailand Open | PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap seal pre-quarterfinals berth
2018 Gold Coast CWG gold medalist PV Sindhu sealed a pre-quarterfinal spot in the women’s singles event as she beat Linda Zetchiri of Bulgaria by a score of 21-8, 21-15 at the Thailand Open. Amongst the men’ singles, HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap also managed to make their way to the pre-QF’s.

Sindhu won her match against Linda Zetchiri of Bulgaria by a scoreline of 21-8, 21-15 with relative ease. The second seed will face Hong Kong veteran Pui Yin Yip in the second round of the tournament, although the 23-year old shuttler is expected to make the finals of the tournament comfortably.
But Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka, who trained in Bangkok, suffered a straight game defeat against Sayaka Sato of Japan 13-21, 17-21 which knocked the Indian out of the competition.
In the men’s singles category, fourth seed - HS Prannoy defeated Pablo Abian of Spain by a margin of 21-16, 21-19 as he scheduled a second-round meeting against Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Thailand.
Parupalli Kashyap, who recently returned from an injury lay-off, endured an easy win against Jason Anthony Ho-Shue of Canada by a scoreline of 21-15, 21-17. The 31-year old will now face Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan today. Meanwhile, Indian shuttler Sameer Verma was knocked out of the tournament after he lost against Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand by a score of 18-21, 16-21.
