Anurag Thakur slams Javed Miandad's anti-Modi/ India rant
BCCI chief Anurag Thakur has come out all guns blazing against former Pakistan captain Javed Maindad mocking Pakistan's inability to defeat India on the cricket field. Miandad had earlier gone on a tirade against Indian PM Narendra Modi and India calling him an “egg” and calling Indians “cowards”.
India-Pakistan relations have reached new lows after the Uri attacks and India's subsequent retaliation with the surgical strikes. However, inter-country discourse as well reached a new low with ex-Pakistan captain Javed Miandad's recent outburst.

In an escalation of his verbal volleys, in an interview with Samaa TV of Pakistan, Miandad said, "I want to tell the people of India that there are some people in your country who can get you killed. You should come together and unite against such people.
"I have travelled a lot in India during my cricketing days. I know that the general public is not like that."
Miandad also took cheap potshots at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying, "But there are people like Narendra Modi, who is an egg. An egg who doesn't know about his father or mother."
"He doesn't know who is he threatening. We are ready for war. We are ready for martyrdom. Every Pakistani, even every child is ready to fight and die for this holy war. They (referring to India) are cowards, they have no army, nothing," reported Zeenews.
In response to Miandad's tirade, BCCI president Anurag Thakur retorted with a funny quip pointing out to the neighbor's inability to defeat India at World Cup tournaments.
Thakur, who is also a BJP MP, said, "Pakistan is still not over the trauma inflicted by India in the wars of 1965, 1971 and Kargil. Same with Miandad who also remains to be in shock for not being able to beat India even once in World Cup history. If needed, India will make Pakistan bite the dust again, whether it is on the battlefield or cricket field," reported NDTV.
Thakur also did not hold back his punches when referring to Miandad whose son is married to in-exile Indian gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
"If Miandad is so confident about his own people, he should tell Dawood to come back to India. Why doesn't he do that? We have always defeated Pakistan and will do so again in the future," Thakur added.
While India-Pakistan cricketing ties have already been ruled out after the recent escalation, this ongoing war of words between the cricketing fraternity is set to ensure that the neighbors will not meet on the cricketing battlefield in a series for anytime soon – or maybe even for years.
